1921: retro-iris claw lens for aphakia

This patient has a complex ocular history which resulted in an eye with no capsular support. To address the aphakia there are many options: ACIOL, glued IOL intra-scleral tunnel technique, Yamane IOL fixation, Gore-tex sutured IOLs, belt loop IOL fixation, and iris claw IOLs. These iris claw IOLs can be secured to the anterior surface of the iris or the posterior surface as long as an adjustment in the IOL power is made to account for the position. Note that these iris claw IOLs for aphakia are not available in the USA. Our guest surgeon does a great job of securing a retro-iris claw lens for this patient.
