1421: belt loop technique to secure IOLs

Our guest surgeon, Dr Cathy McCabe from Florida, USA has an innovative way of securing IOLs to the sclera in cases of dislocation. This belt loop technique uses 6-0 Prolene sutures with flange creation to go around the haptic-optic junction of a single-piece acrylic IOL in order to fixate it to the sclera. For patients with late dislocation of the bag+IOL complex, this technique can be very useful since it can be done through two small paracentesis incisions.
