The first time that I saw Brian Little, FRCS, FRCOphth demonstrate the technique for rescuing a runout capsulorhexis, I was in awe. This simple procedure allows cataract surgeons to rescue a capsulorhexis which is running out toward the lens equator. By pulling backward, the tear can be brought back centrally and then the capsulorhexis continued in a safe manner. This is an absolutely essential technique that all beginning and resident cataract surgeons must learn.
