Capsulorhexis technique with just forceps

In more than 99% of my cataract surgery cases, I do not use a cystotome to start the capsulorhexis. I find that it is a superfluous step in cataract surgery and it actually provides less control and precision. Using just forceps is sufficient to start and complete a great capsulorhexis in your routine cataract surgeries.

In the hundreds of videos that we have previously shown with this technique, it can be difficult for a beginning surgeon to learn the finesse of the steps. This video shows the precise movements in high-magnification and in slow-motion. Certainly, after studying this video, you will understand the nuances of the movements and will be able to learn to perform this technique.
