Our anonymous resident surgeon is just starting out and this is the 8th cataract case completed solo, under supervision from a senior surgeon. We are at a time where the young surgeons can learn so much from videos which can be streamed at anytime on their mobile phones or computer. This really allows a fast learning ability and you may watch this video in disbelief that this is actually case 8. It really is and the reason I know is that the most basic principle of modern cataract surgery is not followed very well: you must keep the eye in primary position during the procedure! And understandably, this beginning surgeon is having a tough time with that. The other skills are really great for so early in the learning curve. Keep up the good work and I’m proud of you. And for our seasoned surgeons, please leave a helpful comment below for our younger colleagues.
