2538: is a laser needed for capsulorhexis?

Our guest surgeon is using the Capsulaser device to create an opening in the anterior capsule for cataract surgery. We tend to think of the word capsulorhexis when we tear the anterior lens capsule opening and then the word capsulotomy when we use the laser to cut into it, but I may end up using the words interchangeably in the video. This Capsulaser device is a solid state laser at 590 nm wavelength with a power output of less than 10 milliwatts and it can make a capsular opening between 4.0 and 5.5 mm in diameter in under one second. Sounds great, but there is a catch: the lens capsule must be intensely stained with a proprietary 0.40% trypan blue solution which is much higher than our typical 0.06% trypan blue dye. Watch the video (which features a posterior polar cataract, by the way) and then comment below if you have experience with this device or if you think it would be useful in your clinic.
