I travel frequently to give lectures all over the world and that meant more than 20 countries in 2024 alone. At these lectures, I often present a case of a dropped nucleus and I ask the audience members to raise their hands if they have had this complication before. The only surgeons without their hands raised are those who (1) do not operate, (2) have just started operating and have done too few cases, or (3) those who aren’t quite fully truthful. If you perform thousands of cataract surgeries then you 100% absolutely WILL encounter the complication of the dropped nucleus. In this video, the complication is not the fault of the cataract surgeon. This patient sustained an injury to the posterior capsule shortly before developing the white cataract.
