In this video we are going to discuss how being self-critical is good… to a point. We want to be our own toughest critic so that it pushes us to learn more, become better surgeons, and give better visual outcomes to our patients. But we don’t want to be so critical as to undermine our own self-confidence. In this video an anonymous surgeon submits the recording from a routine case (case number 1100 in the career) and asks for guidance. The surgeon also states that the idea of quitting surgery has been lurking in the back of the mind for some time now. I think this surgeon is doing just fine and quitting should not be in the cards. Watch the video, hear my take, and let me know your thoughts. Your comments are critical in helping this surgeon (and so many others) who struggle with this issue.
