This is the final cataract case that was performed during residency and likely represents about 200 to 300 cataract surgeries completed. This is an anonymous resident from an unknown program and I am not the attending involved in this case. But certainly, I am impressed. This resident has learned so much and can already do a great cataract surgery. The best part is that this is just the beginning. In my estimation, doing about 300 to 500 cataract surgeries gets you about half way up the learning curve and there is still so much to learn. If you are in your residency training, this is another good benchmark case that you can set your sights on. For a similar case with double camera angles (showing hand position as well), see this link.
