In this video, submitted by Dr. Yaun Lin from Casablanca, Morocco, we can learn multiple different variations of Pre-Chop. This means that we chop the nucleus and divide it into smaller fragments prior to placing the phaco probe in the eye. We can do this with the Akahoshi pre-chopper instrument, with two choppers, with a chopper and a 27g cannula, or simply the chopper and the capsulorhexis forceps.
We have previously shown videos of the Akahoshi pre-chopper and the method using a 27 gauge cannula to split the nucleus. This video from Dr. Lin shows us multiple techniques all together in one video. It is very educational and I’m certain that you will learn from it.
