For surgeons who are trying to learn a new technique, it is helpful to see the hand position as well as the microscope view. On the CataractCoach.com website, we have a whole series of videos showing hand position during surgery – just search using the keyword “hand” and you will see them all. In this video our guest surgeon shows this double camera view of IOL fixation to the sclera and you can see that a third hand (the hand of the assistant) is needed to carefully twist the plunger for controlled IOL delivery as the surgeon uses his hands to hold the injector tip and grab the leading haptic to externalize it. Brilliant.
