2557: Ahmed Clear Path seton for glaucoma

Surgical procedure demonstrating the Ahmed Clear Path Seton for glaucoma, featuring a double Tutoplast pericardium layer and tissue fibrin glue, with a focus on the releasable suture.

Since CataractCoach™ encompasses cataract, glaucoma, cornea & refractive surgery, we want to make sure to complete out extensive library of all anterior segment surgeries. We have featured many prior videos of using glaucoma setons, even showing resident cases where I taught them how to effectively treat neo-vascular glaucoma and resolve common post-op issues. Today we feature a guest surgeon who does a great job of implanting the Ahmed Clear Path seton device. There are two sutures that are being used to temporarily limit the outflow during the initial healing period: there is a larger bore nylon suture in the outflow tube itself (which will be removed in the post-op period at the slit lamp microscope) and there is another suture which is temporarily choking off the outflow via the tube. This can be a releasable suture or a Vicryl suture which will dissolve on its own after a couple of weeks. Great pearls — what is your best advice for success with these seton devices?
