At the UKISCRS meeting in London (November 2024), I saw a presentation from a young ophthalmologist, Dr Alasdair Simpson from the University of Glasgow that I really enjoyed. He developed a brief hazard perception test consisting of 8 surgical scenarios where an experienced surgeon would recognize the issue but a beginner may not. With training (and learning from videos), we can all become more aware of these potential pitfalls and reduce our complication rate.
