Like most modern day cataract surgeons, the first phaco nucleo-fractis technique that I learned was divide and conquer. It is a method that certainly works well and it can be used for the entirety of your career. However, I think it is important to first learn all major nucleo-fractis techniques and then determine which is best each specific patient given your skillset. In this video, a young surgeon in training is trying to move beyond divide and conquer and start performing stop-and-chop phaco. Great learning in this video and I’m proud of the anonymous surgeon even if the technique is not quite there yet.
