2157: What is going on with that CTR?

Inserting a capsular tension ring (CTR) is not as simple as it sounds. This ring has a spring tension to it which can help support the capsular bag equator, but it also means that implanting in requires care. The capsule is very thin and fragile, so undue stress on it can result in capsule rupture and displacement of the CTR into the vitreous cavity. In the case shown here there is something going on wrong with this CTR insertion. Watch the video carefully and see if you can deduce what is going on. We also show two alternative (and easier) methods for CTR insertion, one by Dr Deepinder Dhaliwal and another by me, Dr Cataract Coach 🙂 leave a comment below stating your preferred technique of implanting a CTR.
