2128: soft white cataract with PC rupture

This patient has a soft white cataract from prior trauma and now it is time for cataract surgery. Look carefully at the picture and you will see that there is basically no nuclear sclerosis. This means that if you apply ultrasonic energy with the phaco probe, it will go right through the cataract and hit the posterior capsule. This is what happens in the case presented here. Fortunately, our guest surgeon does a great job of addressing the complications and gives the patient an excellent visual outcome. Tomorrow’s video will feature the way that I prefer to approach these tough cases.
