1948: Cataract Quiz: equator, tear, or cortex?

This seemed like a relatively routine case. When the capsulorhexis was performed there was some mild wrinkling of the capsular bag but even still a nice 5.5 mm diameter capsulorhexis was performed without issues. A decision was made to tilt the nucleus partially out of the capsular bag in order to put less stress on the zonular support during nucleus removal. Once the phaco probe was pulled out of the eye, I saw an interesting finding that caught my eye (forgive the pun). Look at the photo here and at the tip of the yellow arrow, what do you think is going on? Is that the capsular bag equator, a capsular tear, or just cortex?
