1914: What if lens decompression yields nothing?

Many videos have been featured here on CataractCoach to explain how to avoid the dreaded Argentinian Flag sign with white cataracts. The most popular is the double capsulorhexis technique with needle decompression and that is precisely how I start this case. However, when this needle decompression yields nothing, it is ok to abandon that technique and simply do a normal capsulorhexis?
