The next lesson in our 25 part curriculum series is focused on dealing with small pupils and iris prolapse. You can see the entire curriculum series here. This series is designed to take a young ophthalmologist in training through the process of learning cataract surgery starting from the beginning. With 25 lessons in total and each lesson being 30 to 45 minutes, there is a significant time commitment, but I assure you that it is well worth your time. I suggest doing one lesson every week (over 6 months) or every other week (lasting 12 months). Today’s lesson is truly critical: dealing with small pupils, preventing (and resolving) iris prolapse, and giving your patients a great visual outcome despite the challenges.
