1811: triple procedure: PKP + CEIOL

The term triple procedure is a little misleading because it is two surgeries: corneal transplantation and cataract surgery. The triple is intended to mean (1) corneal transplantation, (2) cataract extraction, and (3) IOL implantation. But when was the last time you did a cataract extraction without implanting an IOL? I can’t remember either, it is that rare. This resident does a great job with this combined case and there are some important learning points. I will leave you with one question to ponder before watching the video: if a total of 16 interrupted 10-0 nylon sutures will be used to suture the new cornea in position, which of these is the most important? The first one? The last one? Hmmm, what do you think? Answer in the video
