1534: a resident’s first phaco chop

We are in the middle of July and that means that ophthalmology residents in the USA are starting the academic year. If you are now a senior resident, this is the first month of your senior year and you have 11 more months to ensure that you hone your surgery skills. For cataract surgery this means that you will want to learn phaco chop — and you can start small, like this case which is mostly divide-and-conquer followed by just one or two small chops. That’s all it takes to get your mind and hands in sync so that you can keep learning this technique.
