1517: Star Technique for dislocated IOLs

Even after performing ocular surgery for 25 years, I still learn so much by making these CataractCoach videos and today I feature a novel technique that I have never seen before. Our guest surgeon has a 98 year old patient where there is late dislocation of the IOL+capsular bag complex. The technique involves using 10-0 prolene suture to create a support net for the IOL to keep it in good position. The diagram above shows the path of the single suture and it is able to securely hold the IOL for the remainder of the patient’s life. What is your feeling about this technique and have you ever seen it before?
