1252: how I handle soft cataracts

Soft cataracts require one important step for success: get the nucleus away from the posterior capsule. I like to accomplish this using hydro-dissection and hydro-delineation to prolapse the nucleus out of the capsular bag. Since the nucleus is soft, a minimal amount of ultrasound energy will be needed to remove the nucleus and operating at the iris plane is the goal. In this complete cataract case, I show the technique that I like to employ for these soft cataracts.
