
Recently a resident asked me what would happen if he did not get to learn to implant a new design IOL during his residency training program. That’s a great question and the answer is that what you learn in your ophthalmology residency training program is just the basics. You are learning to build a basic foundation upon which you will continue to build knowledge for the rest of your career. Even today, my operating room is filled with technology that did not exist when I was a resident.
