We have seen a lot of innovation with regards to IOL fixation to the sclera. There is the Yamane technique where the haptics of a three-piece IOL are fixated to the sclera by creating a flange with cautery. There are also methods of using suture materials with single-piece IOL designs such as using gore-tex as we have shown here. This video is from Dr Ori Mahler who shows us his take on the Canabrava technique of using 6-0 prolene to create loops with flanges to fixate the IOL. Remarkably, this IOL and technique can be performed through a 2.4 mm incision.
