Secret to Chopping a Soft Cataract

If the cataract has a minimal amount of nuclear sclerosis, it is more challenging to chop it. The nucleus is soft and if too much ultrasound energy is placed into it, the lens matter just seems to crumble. The key in chopping it is to embed the phaco tip without ultrasonic energy, and then to quickly chop it within the first 1 or 2 seconds.
