The Chop failed because the nuclear halves did not separate

The phaco chop technique is like splitting firewood: the instrument creates the initial cleavage plane which then must be propagated in order to create two separate halves. A previous video showed the technique that I use to ensure full separation prior to removal of the nuclear halves. In this case, however, the anonymous resident surgeon was unable to fully separate the hemi-nuclear pieces and this caused an issue. Tomorrow we will show the video of the complication and when it was noticed.
