2985: Pocketless 5F scleral IOL fixation

Our guest surgeon, Dr Soosan Jacob from India, demonstrates a pocketless Five F scleral intraocular lens fixation technique. This innovative approach is completely flangeless, flapless, and fibrin glueless, resulting in a fully covered and fully tucked haptic. Because the haptic is completely buried and secured within the scleral architecture, there is absolutely no need to create a Yamane style bulbous flange. This approach significantly reduces the risk of long term haptic exposure, conjunctival erosion, and perhaps subsequent endophthalmitis, while streamlining the technical steps of secondary lens fixation without complex scleral flaps or pockets. Watch the elegant instrument handling and precise scleral passes used to achieve beautiful lens centration and exceptional long term stability. What are your thoughts on this pocketless five F approach compared to traditional flanged or glued intrascleral fixation techniques? Please comment your opinions and experiences below.
