2553: ready to move to stop-and-chop

If you are a resident surgeon, how do you know that it’s time to move on from divide-and-conquer and learn phaco chop? For young surgeons my best advice is to learn as many techniques of nucleo-fractis as possible. Start with divide-and-conquer, then learn stop-and-chop, and then advance to the various chop techniques. Even take time to learn pre-chop and femtosecond laser chop and more. Learn it all and then for any patient you will have a variety of techniques from which to choose. So how do you know it is time to start learning stop-and-chop?
