2461: pterygium without sutures or glue

Pterygium surgery with a conjunctival autograft has been shown to be a reliable method which achieves good results with a low recurrence rate. Most of the time, we tend to use tissue glue or sutures to hold the graft in place. However our guest surgeon here uses the patient’s own blood to help secure the graft and then a large diameter corneo-scleral contact lens to ensure stability during the initial days of healing. Very innovative!
