2439: the 5 suture trabeculectomy

Our guest surgeon is a renowned glaucoma specialist, Prof Ramesh Ayyala and with his team of fellows and residents at USF Tampa, they are helping to educate us about glaucoma cases. In this video, a simplified technique of trabeculectomy is featured where a total of 5 sutures are used. There are some helpful pearls such as a touch of extra cautery at the scleral bed at the flap edge to help with fluid egress. This procedure is well within the skill set of general ophthalmologists and cataract surgeons and I encourage you to learn from this great video.
