The Yamane ISHF (intra-scleral haptic fixation) technique has become very popular method in the past few years. This allows us to fixate a three-piece IOL to the sclera by creating tunnels and a flange on the end of the haptic to secure it. In this video our guest surgeon shows a simplified method of performing Yamane ISHF so that it can be completed in just a few minutes. An added bonus is that the IOL optic does not go into the mid-vitreous during manipulation and that can help prevent causing vitreous traction which leads to retinal detachment and cystoid macular edema. What is your preferred technique for performing Yamane ISHF?
