2335: ruptured globe needle penetration

This patient sustained an ocular injury where a needle / wire penetrated the central cornea and the crystalline lens. This foreign body was carefully removed in clinic and the small corneal perforation was sealed with glue. A few weeks later the patient developed a total cataract along with vitreous haze as seen on B-scan ultrasound. The patient was taken to the operating room for cataract surgery and pars plana vitrectomy.
