It is tough to treat keratoconus and corneal ectasia because of the irregularity induced by these conditions and the weakness of the cornea. We have tried intra-stromal corneal implants made of plastic polymers and these can have some success, however these can pose their own challenges. Our guest surgeon, Dr Soosan Jacob, was featured on the CataractCoach Podcast yesterday and she explained her technique of CAIRS: corneal allogenic intra-stromal ring segments. This video features her technique and the results are excellent and promising.
