A relatively easy solution to address aphakia in patients without capsular support is the iris claw lens which is clipped to the iris. This can be attached to the anterior or posterior surface of the iris with the latter being preferred in many cases. This is an IOL that is not currently available in the USA (along with a host of other innovative surgical products) due to lack of FDA approval. That’s unfortunate since it is an efficient and safe way to address aphakia in complex cases. Have you used this IOL before?
