2126: sphincterotomy for a tiny pupil

This patient has a uveitic cataract with a pupil membrane and synechiae which has resulted in a tiny 1 mm diameter pupil. Our guest surgeon does a great job of dissecting the iris from the fibrotic membrane and lens capsule and also performs sphincterotomies in order to expand the pupil. Without watching the video first, would you use a pupil expansion ring or iris hooks? Why? Comment below, please.

  1. Iris hooks as we would get a floppy iris after the first procedure..no tone in the iris for expansion rings.
