2067: challenges with ocular albinism

While ocular albinism is a rare condition, every cataract surgeon will encounter this condition over the course of a career, often more than once. We have featured multiple prior videos about the challenges with ocular albinism, and it is a topic worth revisiting. These patients have multiple other ocular co-morbidities such as nystagmus, delicate tissues, foveal hypoplasia, and in this case, high hyperopia. This video goes through the challenges and the recommended technique and IOL selection (this patient received a +36.0 D IOL!) and we show the post-op result where you can see the entire IOL through the translucent iris. Please learn from this video so that you can deliver the best outcome when you have a patient with ocular albinism.
