This video shows a technique of using a safety suture, often a 10-0 prolene or similar, to be able to control the trailing eyelet of the CTR (capsular tension ring). This can be helpful if placement into the capsular bag is tricky since it allows the surgeon to retrieve the CTR and try again. I have never found the need to use this technique, but I want to have the world’s most complete library of everything related to cataract surgery, so we include it. The second half of the video shows the preferred technique of CTR placement which I use routinely.
