1997: YAG laser capsulotomy white cataracts

CataractCoach.com is your reference for everything cataract surgery and anterior segment surgeries and in that regard, we want a complete library. For intumescent white cataracts we have dozens of videos showing all kinds of techniques. The underlying theme is that we want to decompress the capsular bag to release the liquefied lens cortex. While we usually do this during the cataract surgery, you can also do it immediately prior to surgery. Our guest surgeon uses the YAG laser to create an opening in the anterior lens capsule prior to allow gentle egress of the liquefied lens cortex prior to making the first incision. Have you tried this technique? How well does it work?
