1983: trauma, hyphema, & iris damage

We know that you cannot undo trauma. No matter how talented the surgeon and no matter the part of the body involved, there is no way to undo the trauma and return to the perfectly normal state. This is particularly true in the eye where the tissues are so delicate. This patient sustained trauma which resulted in a hyphema, iris damage, zonular damage with vitreous prolapse, and a traumatic cataract. Our guest surgeon does a great job with this tough case and produces an excellent outcome. So many great pearls of wisdom in this case and even a unique technique to hold the damaged iris out of the way.
