1894: video contest 1st: traumatic cataract

Our first place winner for the video contest presents a very tough traumatic cataract case. This is a case that even experienced surgeons would find challenging and yet, this young surgeon successfully completes this case while still in residency. The patient sustained ocular trauma which resulted in a large area of zonular loss with vitreous prolapse into the anterior chamber. How would you approach this case? Congratulations to Dr Gio Campagna for a job well done. While I worked with this surgeon earlier in his residency, I have not scrubbed with him for the past 18 months and I recused myself from voting in this case. Watch the video and I’m sure you’ll agree that this video is outstanding.
