1763: Curriculum Lesson 18: finish the case

This lesson focuses on finishing the case. Sounds easy, but it can be tricky. We need to remove the viscoelastic from the eye, including behind the IOL, seal the incision, center the IOL, and often inject medications.

Remember that our full curriculum series can be found here: Curriculum Series. We are planning for a total of 25 lessons and this lesson, number 18, will be the last for the routine cataract cases. The next 7 lessons will be going over challenging cases, complications, ruptured posterior capsule, anterior vitrectomy, and more. If you are a resident or fellow in training and you have not gone through this entire curriculum series, then you only have yourself to blame should you not live up to your potential as an ophthalmic surgeon.
