1727: iStent prior to cataract surgery

The standard teaching is to perform cataract surgery first and then once the IOL is in the capsular bag and the anterior chamber is full of viscoelastic, do the insertion of the iStent MIGS device. However, this surgeon has a different technique where the iStent is placed first. Trypan blue dye was used to stain the lens capsule and in addition, it temporarily stains the trabecular meshwork. The surgeon uses this as a guide to make it easier to see where to place the iStent devices.
