Our guest surgeon, Dr Guillermo Amescua, is an outstanding surgeon at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida, USA. He is a master surgeon when it comes to complex cataract cases like this one. The patient is wheelchair bound with advanced muscular dystrophy and has a cataract with a large degree of temporal zonular loss. The cataract is removed, the IOL is implanted, and the capsular bag is sutured to the sclera using Gore-Tex. There are many great lessons to be learned from this video and it is a pleasure to watch the high degree of surgical skill.
