Our guest surgeon is Asst. Prof. Christina Mamalis MD from the University of Texas in Houston, and she presents a case of an intra-lenticular foreign body that was performed by one of her resident surgeons under her supervision. This is a tricky case because the metallic foreign body could easily rupture the posterior capsule and become displaced into the vitreous cavity. Dr Mamalis shares some important pearls for successfully retrieving the IOFB and giving this patient an amazing outcome.
