There are many ways of performing the steps of cataract surgery. We can do the capsulorhexis / capsulotomy with a cystotome, a pair of forceps, a selective laser, a femtosecond laser, a plasma cutter, and now with the Zepto device, which uses a brief pulse of energy to create a perfectly round capsular opening in a fraction of a second. This is very useful in cases of an intumescent white cataract and also for more routine cases as shown in this case. The result is a precise capsulotomy exactly where the surgeon desires and in addition, a smaller pupil is of no concern as this device can be placed under iris tissue.
