1386: IOL designed for scleral fixation

For patients with aphakia and an absence of zonular support, many surgeons recommend fixating the IOL to the sclera. This can be done with many different techniques including Agarwal glued-IOL with Scharioth tunnels, Yamane haptic fixation, Gore-Tex suture fixation, Canabrava flange technique, retro-iris claw IOLs, or others. This video shows a novel IOL that is designed for scleral fixation and it has special T-shaped haptics that can be pulled through the scleral and secured. Note that this IOL is not available in the USA and if you want to know more about it I’m sure that you know how to search the internet.
