This video shows a complication that I have never seen before: insertion of the Malyugin pupil expansion ring inadvertently rips the anterior lens capsule. When watching this in slow motion, we can see that the scroll is placed beneath the iris instead of on the pupil margin. This allows the scroll to hit the anterior lens capsule with enough force that is causes a large rip. Fortunately, the surgeon is able to recover from this complication and successfully complete the case.
