Our guest surgeon today is Victoria Tseng, MD, PhD who is a glaucoma specialist and professor at the Jules Stein Eye Institute, UCLA School of Medicine in Los Angeles. This video shows her technique for Ahmed valve implantation in cases of neo-vascular glaucoma. It also features an anonymous resident doing his first Ahmed valve surgery with Dr. Tseng’s supervision. This is a commonly performed surgery in our resident clinic at Olive View UCLA Medical Center and we request that all of our residents learn from this video prior to coming to the operating room. Also, this video highlights the inventor of this device, Prof. Mateen Ahmed from New World Medical. While my friend Ike Ahmed MD is a great glaucoma surgeon, the Ahmed valve is from a different Dr. Ahmed.
