Today was supposed to be the World Cornea Congress in Boston (May 14, 2020) and even though it is cancelled, we will honor that with some great corneal teaching. Guest surgeon Peter Veldman MD from Chicago shows us his techniques to open the various configurations of DMEK grafts. DMEK (Descemet’s Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty) seems like a reasonably simple surgery, but manipulating the graft tissue is not easy. This video highlights the techniques that experts like Dr. Veldman use to successfully perform DMEK surgery. This video is a must-see for any surgeon (like me) who is learning DMEK surgery and wishes to rapidly improve skills and results.
